Culture.....Part 1 (Chaffa)

Hi Friends!

I am adding some culture to the White House Blog!   I will be doing a three part "series" on the Chickasaw Cultural Center in Sulphur, OK.

As listed in the title of this post, "Chaffa" means "one" in Chickasaw language.  You learned something new today :)

Recently, I took a trip, with the parental units, down to The Chickasaw Cultural Center.  This is one of the latest and greatest attractions built by my tribe.

The day we went it was a little rainy and cloudy, so the outdoor pictures aren't as bright and lively as they could be.....Still there was and is SO much to see there.

The Chickasaw Warrior
One of the first things you see when entering the grounds.

The grounds are full of beautiful landscaping and serene water features.

This is the main exhibit center.  The Chikasha Poya Exhibit Center has a theater, the Spirit Forest, multiple language learning stations, and "sit and listen" video areas.

The wood work and construction of the buildings was outstanding.  The wood was a work of art in itself.
This view is looking up toward the ceiling in the main exhibit center.

The view looking out from the main exhibit center.

Groovy lighting......

Mosaic tile work....the colors are gorgeous!
Everything is symbolic.....can you tell about the blue being the sky, the colors being the grass/trees, and the red being the earth?  Love it.....

Stay tuned for part 2!  :)

Until next time, peace out!
