Random.....

Happy Thursday peeps!

The 5K Zoo Run is on Saturday.  It's supposed to be perfect weather for jogging among lions, tigers, bears, penguins, polar bears, giraffes and monkeys.

I've been battling a little plantar fasciitis in my left foot/heel.  It's so weird, it doesn't really hurt, it's just sort of there and annoying.  There is a visible "knot" on the side of my heel though.  The shoes I had been running in, didn't have good arch support and I'm sure that's why my "fascia" got all fired up.  My very worn out New Balance arch supports were in a different pair of running shoes and I obviously brain farted and didn't change them out.  I used my doctoral (Internet research) skills, and followed the arch support, ice, stretching information and it has worked!

The packet pick-up for the Zoo Run was at the New Balance store.  I decided to get some new arch supports while I was there.  Well, New Balance is pretty proud of their fancy pants arch supports.
This time I opted for what I would call, the Cadillac of arch supports.
Online, these bad boys are $44.99, in store they were only $43.00.
Thanks New Balance for saving me a $1.99.

Aren't they pretty??  They should be!

But the first time I ran in them, oh sweet mother of cushiony, running on a cloud, arch support,
it was amazing.
It was then, I decided they were worth every penny.

Just from various reading, I think a lot of die hard runners, don't get into the super duper, cushiony shoes and supports, but with my back and my injury history, I just have to have the support and cushion.
That, and I have honker high arches and big feet.

Oh AND, the New Balance store offered a coupon for $10 off of a $50 purchase in my Zoo Run race packet.  Well, crap.
There I was at only $43.00 for arch supports, so what's a girl to do?
Find something else to buy.

Since it's getting cooler out, I opted for a long sleeve running shirt.
With a Susan G. Komen pink ribbon, of course!

In store shopping was a little better for the shirt.
Online price for the shirt is $29.99, in store, only $23.00.  Score.
Then apply my coupon, and I got myself a deal!  ha!
They just sucked me right in with the coupon.
Hi, my name is Angie, but you call me a sucker!

Speaking of Susan G. Komen....my favorite lil monkey, Julius, supports the cure too!
I swiped this pic from the Paul Frank Facebook page.
Seriously, a pink monkey, are you kidding me?  I love it!!!!!!!!!!

On to my next bit of random-ness.

An Instagram pic I took of my peacock wreath.

This precious little rooter tooter, aka Annabelle, has had a rough week.

Not trying to be gross, and I am going to spare the awful details, but she had an abscess on her back side. :(
So, after a visit to the vet and antibiotic shot, I think she is much better!  Whew!
I hate my baby girls being sick!

Does anyone have large plans for the weekend??

Whatever Wednesday....Through A Child's Eyes

My dear friend, Genevieve, invited me to her family lake house over Labor Day weekend.

Her sweet lil guy, Michael, was in attendance as well.

I turned him loose with my little digital camera.

This is what he saw......

His Mommy

Miss Torie

Yours truly.....

He snapped Will's pic.....aim just a little higher!

His Aunt Sara.....

Will's hand playing in the sand.....
I'm made a rhyme!  I'm a poet and didn't know it!
I'll stop.....

Great shot of the lake Michael!

Michael's up close and personal self portrait!

The trees......

The lovely deck....

The blue sky.....
Photography by Michael, age 3.5 :)

And then the tables were turned!

I tried to snap one of our lil photographer, but he wasn't really playing along.
Angry Birds was way more important than a photo op.  hehe.

See what I mean......

We did manage a boat ride even though it was ~SO~ windy!

Mr. Michael was in need of a ride on the intertube!

His Aunt Sara rode with him.
I don't think he stopped smiling once throughout the entire ride!

And last but not least, one of my new friends, Ginger.  :)

She was waiting patiently under the table to see if anyone happened to drop a crumb or two.

She's such a cutie!

Another Race!

My runnin' bud Genevieve and I signed up for another one!

We had so much fun at Race for the Cure, we are doing the Tulsa Zoo Run on 10/1/11.

It's a 5K that winds through the zoo.

I've heard it's a really fun race.....and we will get to view some wildlife while running!

Lions, tigers and bears, OH MY!  :)

Whatever Wednesday.....Race Recap!

Holla!
We did Race for the Cure and we rocked it!

All lined up, ready to start!!

Me & Gen, pre-race

Gen and her sister, Sara, pre-race

We were all in the groove, feeling good, the weather was a little crisp, but it was HUMID.
That was my main complaint was the humidity, it was 95%, no thank you.

Our running group has been doing run three minutes, walk one minute,
so that was our plan going into the race.

Our strategy of 3:1 run/walk worked perfect.  Myself, Genevieve and her sister, Sara, all stuck to this plan.
I was very pleased with our official finish time of 38:40.
That's about a 12 minute mile, which I think is AWESOME for not having done a 5K in a few years!

AND, considering this is Gen's first run/exercise anything after cancer/chemo/surgery,
she is a total and complete rock star!
Near the end of the course was a hill.  It wasn't Pikes Peak, but it was enough to potentially kick our butts.
So, in order to avoid running up the hill, we ran two minutes longer on the interval leading up to the hill and walked our minute up the hill.  That was Genevieve's idea....she's a smart cookie, hehe.

Along the race route, we saw all kinds of characters.

Pink fairy, butterfly, princess people......
(sorry for the blur, I was running while photographing)

Pirate people, arggghhhhh!!!
He happens to be my co-worker!  Go John!

Behind us is the Sheriff Department's pink SUV.
Tulsa is one of the only cities with a pink vehicle represented in every department....
Police, Sheriff, Fire departments.

My friend Dee, from the gym.
This was post race, note, sweaty hair!...lookin' like a rag-a-muffin!

Team Boo Bee's!

Team Boo Bee crossing the finish line of the 1 mile fun run/walk, arm in arm!

Gen's survivor canvas that I painted for her.
I HAD to give it to her on race day!

Everyone had a great time.
Genevieve participated in all survivor activities and had a great day!

I was so proud to cross the finish line with her.....
her first race as a SURVIVOR!

I would like to thank the Academy.....

......for this award.  It means you like me.....you really, really, like me.

My sweet lil Laura Belle has nominated and awarded me!

Liebster means ‘beloved’ or 'favorite' in German and it’s an honor to receive this award.
The Liebster Blog Award is designed to bring additional recognition to those bloggers with less than 200 followers. If you receive the award, you should link back to the blogger that nominated you and nominate more blogs. Also, don’t forget to let them know that you nominated them.

My beloved lovelies are:
  Peace, Love and Dillan Grace
 Evolution of a Black Butterfly
Crazy or Determined?

I sure hope I get more followers since I am a fancy pants award winner now, ha!
I think a lot more people read my blog than are actual "followers" according to my page views.

So, it's ok to be a follower.  Please follow me :)

Pinterest Inspired Fall Deco

My latest obsession is Pinterest!!!  This website sends my little brain into a tailspin.  Like I can't handle it sometimes, ha!  I just want to create, create, create!!!  Just think of it as crack for a craft addict.  So, here are my latest projects and the Pinterest photos that inspired them!

All of these crafts are relatively cheap and easy to do.  Michael's is my craft store of choice, so I always have coupons and go get my supplies with coupons.

Supplies are:  pine cones and spray paint.
The colors I chose for my pine cones are black, white, turquoise, metallic taupe, and purple!

I love the Christmas inspired "wreath" with the ornaments!
But my spin is for Halloween!
I didn't glue the skeleton bow to the frame so I plan on changing the bow for each season!

Supplies are:  frame (this one is 10x13), spray paint, black acrylic paint, paint brush, ribbon.
This frame was one I had, but wasn't using.
I sprayed the frame with turquoise spray paint, left over from the pine cones.
After the turquoise dried, I dry brushed the frame with black to create a distressed look.
(I am ~SO~ bad at documenting the steps/process of my projects, so sue me)

This pot and pumpkin is one of my fave pins on Pinterest!
Supplies are:  terra cotta pot, floral picks, paint, pumpkin(s).
I got the pot at Wal-Mart, floral picks are from Dollar Tree, the pumpkin was half price at Michael's.

Now, get pinning!  If you are not in Pinterest and would like an invite, just let me know.  I am happy to share my addiction with others :)

Have you made any crafts/projects you saw on Pinterest??
