Hey Y'all!

There's no point to this really, other than we've been saying "y'all" after every word we say today here at work (yes, we ARE workin' hard y'all)!

I've been seeing my girl Paula Deen all over the place lately.....she has furniture, magazines, dishes, cookware, spices, you name it, she's all over it.

I visited her website and found some pics for you (and added some captions, of course)!  :)

You can get your very own "Hey Y'all", bedazzled key chain on Paula's website!

Happy Thursday Y'All !!!!!!!!!

Until next time, peace out!

Whatever Wednesday.....Part 2

So, here's a post full of all kinds of randomness.  :)  It IS Whatever Wednesday.

I have managed to fall in love with fro-yo.  That's "frozen yogurt" for those of you not in the know, hehe.

Don't get me wrong, I've always loved fro-yo and ice cream, but these lil self serve fro-yo places are popping up all over the place.  I like to say fro-yo, it' makes me happy.....say it, it will make you happy too.

My fave is a new place that just opened called YoLotti.  I love it because I think their fro-yo (smile) is very creamy and great quality.  Some of the other fro-yo places seem really sugary and grainy....I dunno, maybe I'm crazy, I have a food texture complex.  AND, YoLotti has the calories per 4 oz serving listed on the sign.  A.W.E.S.O.M.E.

I'm not a HUGE toppings person, I mean I would love to eat ALL of the toppings they have but I'm a really simple topping girl.  SPRINKLES ROCK!  Enough said :)

I found a new app for the iphone, for pictures, that rocks!  Jimmy Choo's and Tennis Shoes blogged about it and I promptly had to download it!  It's called Diptic.  Go to itunes app store right now and get it.  You will thank me for it.  You can do collages with pics on your phone.....love it.  As you saw my fro-yo collage (above), here is another one of my fave fuzzy boy.

I woke up this past weekend, went in the living room to find this.....

Please don't call the SPCA and report me for animal cruelty.   I really try to provide them a good home.
They love to lay here when the sun is out in the mornings.....it's so cute.  I heart my babies.

STORMS.  I mean really.....give it a rest.  You have made your presence known, you have caused destruction and made a mess, and now it is time for you to CALM DOWN.  There was another round of bad storms and tornadoes here last night.  For the first time, I went over to Mom's to ride out the storm (I usually stay at the White House during a storm).  They have an in ground storm cellar and an extra garage for my car.  There was a highly populated, small storm cellar last night.  Myself, the girls (Annabelle & Jessie), Momma, Honey, Charleston, and the neighbors all went underground for the storm.  That's right, 5 adults, 2 cats and 1 dog.  Thank goodness, we are all safe and had no damage to our homes.  Hey Storms, listen up.....PLEASE DO NOT COME BACK FOR A LONG TIME.  The people of Oklahoma and midwestern states thank you.

Until next time, peace out!

Whatever Wednesday.....Birthday Edition

IT'S HONEY'S BIRTHDAY!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HONEY!!!!!!

Wishing you a happy, happy, happy, happy birthday!!!!!!!!  HUGS!

Until next time, peace out!

Random Monday.....

Another weekend has come and gone.....they're always too short, aren't they??

Last Thursday, after I posted about my strange sickness, I thought I was going to have to slit my throat or wrists or something.  The coughing, that day, turned into something AWFUL.  I mean AWFUL.  Not to be gross, I coughed SO hard, that I seriously thought I was going to throw up.

The internet is a good and a bad thing when it comes to some crazy illness you have and you want to read about it.  I have been reading message/chat boards about pertussis/whooping cough.  It is nice to find out that I am not alone in this weirdo illness.

There are many people out there that are WAY worse off than I am with this disease.  I don't know if it's a disease, it sure feels like it should be labeled as a  DISEASE. Some people are completely debilitated by whooping cough.  Like they can't go to work, can't leave their house, sleep sitting up, and can't hardly function they are so exhausted from their bouts of coughing.  That is horrible to me.  I understand where they're coming from, but I am lucky in the fact that my worst fits of coughing happen at night.....which is common with THE DISEASE.  There are people that have suffered respiratory illness and problems LONG after being diagnosed with the disease.  Ugh.

I don't know what my point is really about the whooping cough.....I think I just got a little depressed this weekend about it after my epic cough-o-rama on Thursday.  I've not been in denial, but I just read about it on the internet and found out how really serious this is.....and it's depressing.  Granted I know it could be much worse, but I just wonder how long I will cough and if there will be any long term effects of having THE disease.

I will stop ranting about whooping cough.  You're welcome. :)

Oh, and the throat spray that I posted about last week.....does nothing for the cough.  The prescription cough pills help much better......

I am still mad about breaking up with jerk #922.  I haven't dated 922 people, it just feels like that's how many jerks I've met along the way.  It's been about a month ago we broke up, and I haven't posted about it, but I am mad.  I am hurt and I am mad.  Not going to go into detail, but when people treat you like CRAP, you get a little grumpy about it.  But, hey, I am happy in the fact that I am not an insecure human being.  Some people are insecure, sexist, rude, and hateful.  Just sayin'.

Last night there were HORRIBLE tornadoes in the northeast part of the state and into Joplin, MO.  Joplin is in ruin right now, and as of now, there are 89 fatalities.  This number is expected to go up. :(  COMPLETELY AWFUL.  The hospital there was hit.  The Today Show said there were medical records/papers found up to 60 miles away from the hospital.  WOW.  I pray for peace and comfort for all that were hit by this devastating blow to their town.

Have a good Monday!

Until next time, peace out!

My Strange Sickness

As I posted on 4/13/11, I was in denial or thought I was in denial about being sick.  Read about it here

Well, a lot has happened since then.  Not really A LOT, but it has turned into something crazy.

I called the doctor on 4/4/11 because I had been coughing and wheezing.  I have ashtma and a horrible history of allergies and sinus surgery, so they called in an antibiotic and some Prednisone.  (Prednisone = devil, just sayin').  I took all 14 days of the antibiotic, and the Prednisone, but was still coughing.  All the other symptoms were gone, the wheeze was gone, the stuffy nose was gone, just still had a killer cough.  It was/is an annoying cough, sometimes bouts of very hard, deep, bring tears to your eyes, coughing.

On 4/26/11, I went in for an appointment.  I thought to myself, OK, I'll go, they'll listen to my lungs, look in my ears, etc etc, I'll have a lung function test, I'll get some more meds and be outta here

WRONG.

At first, this appointment was like all the others, let's rule out the asthma, a sinus infection and move on......I could tell the Physician Assistant (Karen) was perplexed.  She had asked me the same questions, several different times.  Is your cough productive?  Are your sinuses clear?  Do you have sinus pressure?  Are your ears popping?  Are you rinsing your sinuses?  Is your cough productive?  How long have you been coughing?  Have you been around anyone who has been sick?   Are you sure your sinuses are clear?  Do you have a fever?  Are you sure you never had a fever?  Cough is not productive?  Do you have sinus pressure?  How long have you been coughing?  Did you finish all of the antibiotic and prednisone?  and on and on and on.

The next step was to do a sinus x-ray to insure that my sinuses were indeed clear.  I told her they were fine, I had no pain/pressure, but whatever she thinks is necessary, I'll do it.  So, we did sinus x-rays, guess what?  They were clear.

Karen then asked, Have you been around anyone with Pertussis?

I said, Uh, what's that?

She said, Whooping cough.

I said, UMMMM, WHOOPING COUGH?!?!  My eyeballs got HUGE.  I felt like I had a cartoon moment when their eyes do the boing boing boing in and out of their head.  My jaw dropped to the floor.

I had to go to the lab for some tests to confirm Pertussis.  I had antibodies tested by blood, and cultures taken from both of my nostrils.

I left the doctor's office and drove to the lab and my brain was swirling to make sense of all of this.  I was thinking, WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON IN MY BODY?!?!  Whooping cough, reallyyyy??!?!  It just sounds like a horrible, awful disease that would constitute me living in a bubble or something.  Further more, what is worse, Karen said I could cough for weeks, months and possibly up to a YEAR!  A YEAR!?!! Of this cough?!?!  It's every day, all day, all the time, I live on cough drops and Robitussin right now.....I get to do this for a year possibly?!?!  Are you kidding me?!?!  People are going to think I am a contagious freak!

After the blood work and cultures came back positive, I was labeled as a whooping cough-er.  Not really, but the lab did confirm that is what I have.  I was treated with another antibiotic, specifically to treat Pertussis and given a mass amount of Tessalon Perles (prescription cough medicine), with refills.  You know it's bad when it's not a routine medication and they give you refills.  Yikes.

Say hello to my new lil' friends.
I prefer the fruity variety of cough drops.  Since I have to eat a ton of them a day, I prefer not to have the strong, menthol, funky inside of your mouth feeling ALL DAY, EVERY DAY.
These are Halls Defense.  They are fruity and full of Vitamin C (which "helps" Pertussis, I've learned)
The fun thing about these cough drops is there's "A PEP TALK IN EVERY DROP"
With each drop you get a fun and encouraging message on the wrapper.  How nice.

Clearly, Halls didn't have a cranky, coughing Pertussis patient in mind when they created the pep talk....hehe.  To unwrap a cough drop,1,048 times a day, is not a happy experience.
But, bless them, they tried.

One thing I have learned with Pertussis, NEVER leave the house without cough drops and a bottle of water.  And if you do, go straight to the drug store or quick stop and get a bag of them and a bottle of water.  Keep these things on hand, at all times, in your car, purse, at work, etc.
I hope no one ever needs this advice, but trust me, you will thank me for it.

I just ordered, and received this new throat spray.  This is where I ordered it.  I've only used it a few days, but it's all natural.  On the advice of a co-worker, I ordered it.  She says it is the bomb dot com when it comes to a cough.  I told her my cough might be a little more "extreme" than just a common cold, but at this point, I am game to try anything.  I am hoping it helps.   It contains zinc and grapefruit seed extract....oh, AND it freshens your breath too, score!  :)

If it is true, that with Pertussis, you will cough for 90 days-ish (from what I've read), then I am about a month and a half away from being done coughing.  Let's hope it's sooner.  Oh well, it'll run it's course.  Maybe the throat spray will be magical and I will be a new human because of it.

We don't know when or if I was ever contagious, because I did take a 14 day round of antibiotics early on.  Maybe I was, maybe I wasn't.  If I was, I would think that my family, friends and co-workers would be infected as well.  THANK GOODNESS nobody else that I'm in contact with on a daily basis has gotten sick.

Why am I sharing all of this?  I don't know really, maybe I wanted to blog it so I would remember.  But I do want everyone to know that just because it's not winter time, and the warmer weather is coming, you still can get sick.  Germs are still lurking everywhere.  So, be diligent in your hand washing and cover your cough if you have one.  Anyone can get sick at any time.....

Until next time, peace out!

Whatever Wednesday....Pinterest.

Thanks to The Hollywood Housewife, I discovered the website Pinterest.

While I haven't completely and totally figured out Pinterest yet, I looked around on there and found some awesome "Words to Live By" on the site.  It is a website to catalog and "pin" all things that you love.  Like I said, still working on figuring it all out......

I just loved this one for some reason.....to me it screams, GET MOVING, EXERCISE, DO WORK!!!  NOW!!!

And really, don't you just want to make this poster size to hang in your house?!?!

I am not a big fan of the cursing on the blog, but OMG, is this not a perfect saying for an animal lover??
I love cats and dogs for the same reason, they are BS free.  They love us unconditionally and always.
Embrace and love your pets!!!

This just makes me giggle......

I'll post more info when I figure Pinterest out!  I've "requested an invite" so I can "join" and start pinning soon!  You can go on there and look around, there's ALL KINDS of stuff to look at on there!
Explore photography, DIY, crafts, travel, design, home, furniture, people, fashion, science, film, books, and on and on.

Until next time, peace out!

A Trip To The Book Store....

A few weeks ago, I took a trip to the book store for a book signing.

Steve's Sundry, in midtown Tulsa, is what I would describe as a quaint and traditional bookstore.  Rows and rows of books and magazines (of course) and an old school, traditional counter where you can buy anything from bookmarks and postcards, to a pack of gum.  I even saw several random posters on the wall for purchase.  Posters of the Table of Elements, a super detailed human anatomical chart, and maps of the world.

This bookstore is located in a small strip center and has been around for 60 years!
You can visit their website here

Steve's has a traditional soda fountain......you can get soft drinks, shakes, ice cream, have breakfast, lunch and dinner.  All while reading a book or a magazine at the counter. :)

Here is the Fountain Counter.....is very nostalgic, I think.

Steve's also carries a lot of books and DVD's about T-Town and it's history....

The children's section is so fun.  They have the real, old school, small comic books, and all sorts of other goodies for kiddo's.

What's a comic without Archie??

Who knew that Steve's had a giraffe living in the kid's section?!  :)

Does anyone remember these WoolyWilly magnetic toy thingy's?
I do......

Or Doodle Balls??

Good ol' Gumby and Pokey are in the house.....

I do not remember these Cap Rockets, but I wanted to open one and try it out SO BAD in the middle of waiting at the book signing!!!  I figured that wouldn't be very appropriate......BUT the lady in line next to me, thought it would be funny if I popped a cap rocket!

These "bolz" tops were metal!
EVERYTHING is plastic these days.  I was excited to see some old school, real live, metal toys still exist.

And then around the corner, I found the Pioneer Woman
She was signing books, that's why I went to the bookstore.....
So, I kept waiting in the line.....

And then she signed my book!

Even though I had to wait in line for quite awhile, I was so glad to get to meet her.

And, I did have fun exploring this historic bookstore in Tulsa.

Until next time, peace out!
