What it takes to be a "stalker"......

Happy Monday everyone, I have just had one of the greatest weekends I've had in a long, long time.  If you read my action and planning post a week ago, then consider that part one and this post, part two, or the before and after, however you choose to look at it. :-)  Here is the blow by blow of my excitement.

My BFF Tammi (Tam, as I call her) road tripped to Denton, TX for a benefit concert for the Attic Community Playhouse, on the campus of the University of North Texas (UNT).  Performances included Jack Ingram and Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland.

We made reservations at the new Holiday Inn in Denton, and we went check in about 4:30pm the day of the concert.  The front desk girl, coincidentally also named Jennifer, asked me what brought me to town.  I told her my friend and I were attending a benefit concert at the college.  She sort of hesitated and said, "Oh."  I then said it's Jennifer Nettles from Sugarland and Jack Ingram, country music singers, I'm not sure if you are familiar with their music.  She sort of looked at me and said, "Well, Sugarland (meaning Jennifer Nettles) is staying here."  I proceeded to ~GASP~ and said, "REALLY?!?!?"  I'm pretty sure I asked REALLY about five times.  She could obviously see my excitement at this statement and she proceeded to start laughing at me.  Tam had stepped to the restroom, so she was completely unaware of my gasping and excitement at the news I had just learned.  What if we see her in the lobby, what if we get to meet her, can we take a picture with her if we meet her, is she nice, will she like stalkers like us?!?!  All of these things go GUSHING through my head.  I was beyond excited.  I mean really, like lost my focus, couldn't think straight, excited.  I got my hotel keys and met up with Tam.  She could see the look of madness on my face and she asked me what was wrong.  I think I scared her, but I said JENNIFER IS STAYING AT THIS HOTEL!!!!!  She promptly said, SHUT UP!!!!!!!  Then she proceeded to gasp and fill with excitement just as I had a few minutes prior.

In case you forgot, this is Jennifer Nettles.  Remember, I'm a HUGEEEEEE fan!!!!!!  ;-)
AND, she stayed at the same hotel I did this past weekend.

Tam and I proceeded to our hotel room to get changed and beautified for our night out on the town in Denton.  We went to dinner and headed to the concert.  It was in the performing arts center on the UNT campus, I believe about 300 people capacity.  Therefore a small, quaint venue.  This was no loud, smoke and lights concert.  It was acoustic, just the artist and the guitar, and for a few songs the artist and the piano.  It was awesome.  I am an AVID fan of MUSIC, it makes my life complete (along with Diet Pepsi and peanut butter as well) but I completely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE music.  Jack Ingram and Jennifer Nettles performances were amazing, nothing scripted, no loud speakers, just the simpleness of their voices and the instruments they played.  We were seated on the 8th row, orchestra left, closest to the center aisle, amazing seats (good job Tam on the tickets).  On a different post, I will post concert photos and some video.

Following this amazing show we had just seen, I was beyond determined that we were going to now meet Jennifer Nettles.  Since I had received this privileged information about Jennifer's accommodations, we headed back to the hotel to sit and wait for her to return.  On the sly, I confirmed with my new BFF, front desk Jennifer, that the famous Jennifer was indeed staying at the hotel that night.  We sat by a fireplace on some couches in the hotel lobby.  On the other side of the fireplace, were some more couches and some other people (probably stalkers), sitting over there visiting as well.  We couldn't see them, just hear them because of the fireplace dividing the middle of the lobby.  So, poor Tam sat and put up with my fidgeting, nervous, unfocused-ness for a little over an hour.  Then we heard a new, different voice on the other side of the fire place that we hadn't heard before.  THEN, she came around the corner......pulling her suitcase...... it was her........in the flesh.......in real life........before I knew it, I was talking to Jennifer Nettles.....IN PERSON!!!!!!!!!!!!    She was very nice, gracious, and appreciative of us coming to support this cause which is so dear to her.  We told her we would see her in March, in Tulsa, at the Sugarland concert.  She graciously took a photo with us and thanked us again for our support and wished us safe travels.

This is me and Tam, with, you guessed it, Jennifer Nettles!!!!!!!!!!!

I had an amazing time this weekend, you have no idea who fun and cool it is to meet someone you admire for their talent.  I know she puts her britches on one leg at a time just like I do, but it was truly awesome to get to meet such a talented woman!

Until next time, Peace out!

Angie
