Workout Update!

As I posted about my last workout with Janae, I survived and wasn't that sore (thank goodness!).  Well, Thursday was a new day.....and another HARD CORE workout.  But as all you workout buddies know, it's a good pain.

I'm sure this is what Janae says when she wakes up in the morning, hehe.  Janae really is a great trainer.....and before we even did the first exercise, she admitted that I probably wouldn't like her during the workout.

We did jump squats on the machine (with weight of course), hamstrings on the ball (ouch), manual resistance (aka Janae) abduct/adduct inner thigh (double OUCH),  and walking lunges and squats/steps with a medicine ball.  That was just legs.

Next, we went to arms.  I've always been intimidated by the big ol' bars and bench pressing them.  So, for me the chest exercise was definitely a victory for me.  We started with the 45 lb bar, and Janae added three, 2.5 lb plates to each side of the bar.  The exercise was called "bench fatigue", key word, fatigue.  I did a total of 40 reps.

Set 1:  10 reps, bar and 3 plates on each side
Set 2:  10 reps, bar and 2 plates on each side
Set 3:  10 reps, bar and 1 plate on each side
Set 4:  10 reps, bar only.

Woot woot, I kicked it in the rear!  It's not a ton of weight but was a big deal to me!

After bench/chest fatigue, I did tricep dips on the bench, seated shoulder presses with a 30 lb bar and then core work.

I was sore in my upper back and arms a little, but I thought my inner thighs were going to fall off for the next two days.

After taking Friday and Saturday off from workout, I'm off to do interval runs outside on this beautiful Sunday!  It's under 80 degrees so I'd better jump on it!   It's been at least 90 degrees and higher for the past week and that's not the funnest running weather.

Two more workouts with Janae, I'll be back with an update!

Until next time, peace out!

  2. Way to rock your workout!

I remember finding my first trainer. My favorite was a guy named Chris who was SUPER sweet to me. BUT he was also the trainer who never EVER let me quit. I credit him with everything I know about fitness! He was tough, but kind--- my kind of guy! :) He did tell me the first time we met, "You might think I'm great now, but wait until your blood, sweat, and tears are on the floor and you're begging to quit." Yikes! (He was right, except I NEVER asked to stop!)
