Feel The Burn.....

Umm, the past two days have been more than burn, more like pain and ultimate soreness.

I rocked and survived workout #2 with Janae.  I did everything she told me to, it was very hard and humid as all get out that day, but I did it.  And then came the soreness.  O.M.G.  Only my calves tho, WTH??.....and they have been beyond sore.  I haven't felt this kind of sore since college workouts.  All she had me do were calf raises on a machine, with weight of course.  It's not like I did calf raises for an hour or two or three, but holy mother of Mary, Peter, Paul, and George (whoever he is)!.....the two sets of 25 reps nearly killed me.

Every time I do any kind of exercise to isolate my calf muscles, I am sore for days.  DAYS.  Now, I'm not tooting my own horn, but I think I have A-OK calves.  They're not all skinny and non existent on my legs.

Bear with me, the following is a true story, I promise.

Do you remember the movie "Alive"?

Per this website, here is a brief description of the movie:  "Uruguayan rugby team stranded in the snow swept Andes are forced to use desperate measures to survive after a plane crash."  If you haven't seen this movie, these poor people had to go to extreme measures.....and I'm not being gross and morbid, but they had to partake of those who had passed on in order to survive.

Why I remember all of this, I have no idea, but I do.  I guess it is still funny to me.

I saw this movie when I was on the road, in college, for an away game.  We had down time one evening and went to see it.  After the movie, we all of course discussed what we would do if we were stranded in the middle of nowhere, with no food and one of us passed on.  One of my teammates said, "Angie has some pretty nice calves, I think I would look to her if we were stranded"....it was totally hysterical at the time.....I'm sure it was one of those had to be there type of things, but it was dang funny!

My point being.....my teammate's comment goes to show, I have some decent calves.  :) Why in the world they get ~SO SORE~ when I do isolation exercises is beyond me.

I am training again today with Janae, and we are going to discuss my calves and their past few days of angst and misery.  I'll be back with an update to today's session.....wish me luck, ha!

Have a good weekend everybody!

Until next time, peace out!
